2020/10/01

On September 30, Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Feng Tie and Danish Ambassador to China Thomas Østrup Møller delivered online congratulatory remarks in celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Full text of the remarks by Ambassador Feng Tie:

The first of October this year marks the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It coincides with the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.

Seventy-one years on, tremendous changes have taken place in China. Led by the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have traversed a great journey and made remarkable achievements. 2020 is an unusual year. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, the Chinese people fought strenuously in a fierce battle against Covid-19. Thanks to our tremendous efforts, a major strategic achievement has been made. China has successfully contained COVID-19, and has become the first major economy to recover. China has also scored decisive achievements in poverty alleviation, and a moderately well-off society in all respects is well in sight. Today, we are more confident and capable than ever of achieving the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Denmark. In 1950, Denmark took the lead among Western countries in establishing diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. 12 years ago, Denmark became the first and the only Nordic country to enter into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with China. Cooperation has always been the mainstream of the bilateral relations. Facing the huge pandemic and the profound changes in the world, China and Denmark need to transcend the differences in ideology and social system and focus on cooperation. The two countries should work towards the same objective, that is to jointly promote a healthy and stable development of the bilateral relations for the benefit of the two peoples as well as global peace, stability and prosperity.

Full text of the remarks by Ambassador Thomas Møller:

As Danish Ambassador to China, I wish to extend my very warm congratulations to the people of China on 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

This year also marks seventy years of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark. Under our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, we have strengthened our bilateral cooperation to the benefit of our two nations.

As an important foundation of our partnership, I look forward to start the next phase of our Joint Work Programme. It is a testimony of our cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as climate, energy, environment, food and health – together in joint pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In particular, I look forward to further advance our cooperation on the green agenda. China’s ambition on reducing CO2-emissions and achieving climate neutrality is key. We all have a strong obligation to effectively address this serious global challenge.

On this day of celebration my final word should be:

Zhu da jia guo qing jie kuai le [ I wish you all a happy national day ].
